Review Roundup: Slow Dance and The Pairing

Review Roundup: Slow Dance and The Pairing

I’ve decided that I want to do a series of briefer reviews, especially in cases like with these books where their impact on me was similar and they’re in the same genre and I only have brief things to say about each. The Pairing by Casey McQuiston Two bisexual exes accidentally book the same European… Continue reading

Review: When Among Crows by Veronica Roth

Review: When Among Crows by Veronica Roth

When Among Crows is swift and striking, drawing from the deep well of Slavic folklore and asking if redemption and atonement can be found in embracing what we most fear. We bear the sword, and we bear the pain of the sword. On Kupala Night, Dymitr arrives in Chicago’s monstrous, magical underworld with a perilous mission:… Continue reading

Review: The Wedding People by Alison Espach

It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She’s immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t… Continue reading

What I’m Hoping to Read in August

What I’m Hoping to Read in August

I did not exactly follow my July TBR list. In fact I strayed pretty far off of it about halfway through the month to read an 800 page book. And you know what? It ended up being a great decision. So if I get the strong urge to do it again in August then I… Continue reading

The 12 Books I Read (or DNFed) in July

The 12 Books I Read (or DNFed) in July

July was, even with a few misses, a fantastic reading month for me. I can’t remember the last time I’ve given out two five-star ratings in a month, much less two favorites. The Pretty Good: Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt I reviewed this book here if you want to read my thoughts on… Continue reading

Reading Journals Chapter 1: What are my Favorite Books?

Reading Journals Chapter 1: What are my Favorite Books?

Welcome to the Reading Journals, a new series that I’ll (probably) do every so often where I can just kind of ramble on about whatever book related thoughts or opinions that I have. An uncategorized series, if you will, but with a cute featured image and title. Today I’m discussing something that I consider to… Continue reading

Review: A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams

Review: A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams

Leap years are a strange, enchanted time. And for some, even a single February can be life-changing. Ricki Wilde has many talents, but being a Wilde isn’t one of them. As the impulsive, artistic daughter of a powerful Atlanta dynasty, she’s the opposite of her famous socialite sisters. Where they’re long-stemmed roses, she’s a dandelion:… Continue reading

About Me

I’m Jessica, a lifelong reader. After experiencing burnout post-college, I’m rediscovering my love of reading one book/ebook/audiobook at a time. I generally tend towards fiction and love fantastical worlds with romantic subplots, cerebral sci-fi themes with funny things to say about society, action packed romps with lovable characters, and a lot of other stuff too. As a teenager I blogged at “Shut Up! I’m Reading” and it was so much fun that I decided to start it up again even if no one follows me this time…but then again, here you are. Happy reading!
